I've got the Thinkware F550. Build quality is good. Daytime video is good. Night time is a tad dark. GPS function isn't all too useful as it doesn't show up in the actual video. Maybe a software/firmware update from Thinkware will change this, but as of now this camera is pretty much equal to the X300 I got my mom. Another note, you can see both bottom corners of my windshield.

Use the videos for what you will, but I'd just use them and compare it to cheaper cameras.

    Daytime:

Night (Skip to :50 and try and read the plate. I've since turned the brightness setting up a bit so I'll see if it improves):

I looked at this one before I bought my Modius. I really liked the size of it, but after watching that video about 5 times, it just looked too cheap and plasticy. That's just my opinion though.

I'm interested in an easy hard wire too. My camera has a "Parking Mode" that the camera will start recording if someone walks in front of the lens or if the truck is bumped or jarred. It dose not operate because the power is shut off when the key is out. It also won't allow the battery to go below a certain voltage so as still be able to start. I don't want to hot tap in in a fuse that controls any important safety devises of the vehicle. When I say easy, I just didn't want to fish through the firewall and figure out how to pass into the motor fuse box without screwing up the water seal.

Hey Mark! I just got the same dashcam and it looks like you did a great job with the installation. What installation kit did you go with so that the wiring was hidden? I want to be sure to get one that has enough cabling to route through the cab to the power source. I assumed you went with a hardwired setup directly to the fusebox?

Wonder why Gentex hasn't been able to squeeze a camera into its mirror and an alternative is a GoPro with windshield mount. At least you can use for other activities.

Hey - no I just got a super long USB cable and tucked it in the roof, then down the driver side door frame and ran it under the dash so that it can plug into a dual USB lighter adapter device I have. I was able to hide almost all of the wire so it's not too bad. I would like to hard wire it one day, but for now, this will have to do.

    Not enough...
Man, I wish someone would make a set with 2 tiny discrete cameras and an external DVR that you could place into the glove compartment/center armrest.

This one seems pretty cool, though.

I have the G1WC by Spytec thru Amazon. So far it's a great camera. Cost $75 and picture quality is great. For the price I paid I couldn't be happier. I need to download a program so that I can cut out all of the uninteresting things in the videos. Captured a cop texting, countless stop signs being ran, a swerving drunk or they could have been texting but the neatest thing I've captured was a buck. He was about to cross the road but stopped short. As I slowed he started running down the shoulder of the road for maybe 50 yards then cut across in front of us. It was pretty cool. Date and time are correct. A few snap shots of him.....Apologies for the filthy windshield.

So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. Gave it to my son in Maine, he has an 05 2wd. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. Had Firestone Destinations and now Michelin LTX AT2 in stock size. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.
I found movie maker on my windows machine to be useful. Able to clip out frames before and after interesting video. Also haven't had much interesting happen in front of me.
