I have researched some models and found that 4runners, highlanders, Sienas, and some Tundras appear to be the same style switch and control module circuit card. The limited trim line appears to be the ones I saw with all auto. I have been casually looking to see if I could find one of these modules.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I think what I''m going to do is check with toyota parts department and have them cross reference the switches and see if they are the same or different part numbers. I'm going to figure that if they are the same part number then the issue is in the circut board and thats what I have to attack to get the desired result.

Exactly! I am headed in tomorrow for my first service and plan to address this part of my research then. Just remember that the switches for a limited with all up and down will be different from ours. You need to have them look up our switch and then cross reference to compatible vehicles, then check those for models with the auto features you want. For me If I am going to do this then I want all auto so I am most interested in the limited trim line.

I totally understand the OP's point here, and he makes very good sense. The exception is this, it makes no sense for a manufacture to make different wire harness and or motors for different trim line options when they could make different switch and circuit boards cheaper and easier for the production process. I will of course share the results of my further research as I progress down this road.

swap the switch into your tacoma and see if it works!

I will NOT say shorting it out is impossible, highly improbable is more accurate in my opinion. To be sure you were save you could disconnect your switch and then read the harness for power and ground. Then do the same on the vehicle you are borrowing the switch from. If the power input and ground are on the same lines with no different powers or grounds on either one you should be good to go. I have found via an IPB on line a few different vehicles that used the same switches as us. I think there are more but Toyota sells them with the trim, so vehicles with different trim pieces show as different part numbers... Harder to find all of the potential donor vehicles this way.

When you look at the switches do they appear to be the same physically? Do you have a meter or any electronics background? I honestly think there is no danger but would expect the worst out come to be a blow fuse. Having said that I make no promises. As soon as I am able to get my hands on one I will try my self though. I just don't want to buy a new switch just to try it.

dealer wont help much...youre going to have to go to toyota tis (pay) but you can check all the schematics for all the wiring of each toyota model. (plugs as well)

just like the 12+ the window button panels look better than the 05-11 and use the same plugs but toyota rewired the panel, ex: if i went to lower the passanger side window, the rear driver door window would try to close and if i lowered the rear window the driver would go down its was all over the place.

ive looked for a while to make at least the front 2 auto down but never found anything except for adding some modules like previously posted
