The only thing you have heard about the 3rd generation is just speculation. Toyota has not said anything official and they won't until the office release on January 12th.

Funny everybody said the same thing when the second gen came out! They're ugly I'm keeping my first gen! And when the first gen came out people didn't all like that either. Personally if it's got a big increase in gas mileage I'll likely wind up with one eventually.

I think the '16 Tacoma will offer more rear leg room in both access and double cab. Heated mirrors and front seats will be optional, along with an improved EnTune stereo/nav system. I do think an upgraded instrument cluster might be something to look for, with real gauges and not just idiot needles. Does that little bulge in the hood signify a "Sport" model?

I remember the test mule shots of the '16 underpinnings with tow weight being pulled, so I think either a new V6 or revised and upgraded 4.0 is in the works.

Toyota will do just enough to the Tacoma that will:

    A) Keep Tacoma loyalists on their side
    B) Possibly sway buyers who are "on-the-fence" with GM's latest offerings, or...
    C) In an unintended way, take back the No. 1 mid-size class category for 2016.

Anyone who would pay 13-15k for an 11 year old pickup truck would be out of their minds. Let's get back to reality here. These aren't collector cars. They are going to depreciate to zero one day.

Have you ever owned and operated one?

They will triple in value when the POS 3rd gen comes out.
