Hi Folks, I have lurked around here for years and not been much of a poster. I am on my third Taco, first one was a 1998 TRD Off Road 4x4 Extended Cab (still own this one), second one was a 2010 TRD Sport Prerunner Double Cab (my son totaled this one a few weeks ago) and, since I got my insurance settlement, my third one:

This one is a 2015 TRD Off Road 4X4 Double Cab. These pics are from the dealership parking lot. I have since added Predator Side Bars and the TRD Catback Exhaust. I'm loving this truck!!!

Yeah, the 2010 was pretty much killed:

    Edited to add:

Although the exterior was destroyed, the cab remained fairly well intact. My son could have gotten hurt really bad. As it was, he had a small cut in his forehead with two stitches and a black eye.

He'd been working 7 days a week, second shift, for several weeks and just fell asleep on the interstate on his way home one night after work.

He actually ran through a guardrail and tumbled down an embankment. He was really very lucky. The design of the truck really protected him.

I hope you understand this post OP. I've always thought it better that "young" people have a non-fatal accident early in their driving lives. That way they really understand how quick and unexpected and deadly accidents happen. I'm glad to hear your son is OK and am willing to bet he never falls asleep again behind the wheel. Been there done that while working 12-hour shifts and a 1-1/2 hour drive each way. I think that's amazing he survived that nasty looking wreck but a testament to the safety designs in vehicles these days. BTW nice looking truck you got now. Love that black paint.:D

    No significant mods....yet
Liking the new truck, it is the same as mine only I own a 2014. That accident looked insane. Just glad he walked away from that. I'm assuming that since the truck had rolled then the side curtain airbags probably were instrumental in avoiding serious injury.

Congrats! First, that your son is ok and second for the new truck. Nice.

I keep seeing these wrecked Tacomas and many look horrendous and yet it seems many come away with little to no injuries. I hope that's the case.

I very much get what you're saying and I told him he really got off pretty easy learning this lesson. He could have been hurt much worst or could have hurt or killed someone else. He's 19, so while not entirely a kid, still pretty young. I pray this is his first and last incident like this.
