    Stupid question, but how can you tell if your truck throws a code? i.e. if someone says "my truck shows the 1234 code", where do you see that? On the dash? I know the check-engine light is on the dash, but I have no idea where the codes show up.

    With a scan tool. Plug it in and it will read the codes from the ecu.

    The truck wont tell you the codes... you have to plug in a seperate code reading tool into the OBDII port
