Anyone running a ScanGauge II or a similar setup? Thinking about grabbing one up or a product of that nature. Is it a good investment?

Been reading threads for days on this... Ultra gauge is the other choice. One incredibly generous member helped them crack the code for tranny temp. Seems rather unnecessary unless you are towing or have an older rig that is throwing the check engine light. On the other hand, it works on all vehicles and is cheap compared to going to the stealership for service... I change my own fluids and will be getting one to change my tranny fluid soon. For day to day mall warriors it's not needed... For guys who have to know what's actually happening under the hood it's cool. Kinda pisses me off that toyota can't put this stuff in for the $33,000 that they get for my taco!

Left another one out... I have fuel mgmt on my sequoia... Not all gas is created equal. Sams Club gas is cheap, but I get 2... Yes 2 mpg less on their gas. Marathon or bp seem to be decent. Every now and then you get a good tank that pulls down 2 more than usual. Ready for the pisser? The sequoia is a 2012 4.6v8 6 sp auto and usually gets 16-17 around town, 19-21 highway. New taco is at 17.5 -18 but only has 300 miles. (Still smells new :)

I leave my SG 2 plugged in all the time. It's nice to have the few extra parameters at your fingertips. No complaints for me on the SG 2. I got it before the Ultragauge had the trans temp because I do tow with my truck.

Have had a SGII for almost 5 years. Once it is calibrated for distance and fuel, it is extremely accurate to measure mpg. GPS and mile markers confirm accuracy. Helps me keep average mpg above 20 (drops a little in winter).

Same here but I ferry people and haul a lot of stuff in the bed so the SC 2 is very useful for me. Ultra gauge is another nice and cheaper option. Glad they finally have a transmission temp gauge option now.

Yep - same with Walmart, Costco and a lot of grocery store gas.

I always get better mpg with Chevron and Shell - common in my area.

I have run the scangauge2, ultragauge MX, and torque.....

I now have just the Scangauge..... Nothing wrong with the others, just sold em. I have a habit of testing and selling items.

Thanks for the kudos up there Jrod

I have the Scangauge I, mostly same as II, just big and ugly and no x-gauge functions but I have a stick. Well worth the money to help understand what uses more or less gas, along with engine temp, intake temp, throttle position, etc.

Ultragauge is a lot less expensive, if it was available 12 years ago I'd have got it instead.

I've had a Scangauge II for years.... plugged in all the time. It has a lot of neat features that I don't really use. Mine is too old.....so it doesn't read tranny temps or any of the newer features. I could send it back for an update - I just don't know whether I need them.

I use it primarily for gas mileage and miles per tank stuff..... I love the fact that it'll read Engine codes - never had a need for it (knock on wood). I'd love to hook it up to someone elses vehicle to see if it'll pull & reset codes, but just haven't had an opportunity.

Thanks guys. Sounds like it will pay for itself just for the fact you can tell which gas you get the most miles per tank and save on gas through better driving habits.

So, as of now, Scan gauge and Ultra Gauge are basically neck and neck features wise.. correct?

Unless you think automatic transmission temperature is important go with ultragauge.
