So my Dad bought me a TRD Cold Air Intake from for Christmas.
    Badass Dad right? :D
I think it's an awesome thoughtful gift, but honestly it wouldn't be something I would of spent money on.

What should I do install it or try to get a refund? I think he said he has the receipt.

    It looks like this.

    Faulty design.

Great dad, well meant, but the design is flawed and can cause lean conditions.

Return and get an afe stage 2 si.

    Yeah I saw this...

I also have a stock exhaust and don't plan on getting a new one either. So more air in same air out doesn't seem good either.

I know the CAI can be kinda suspect, I do alot of off road and there's tons of dust everywhere on and in my tuck too.

I'd rather use the money to finish my Long Travel rear or something. I even made a separate savings account for my truck!

No need to increase the exhaust size unless going force fed.
Just have a muffler welded onto stock tubing

Yeah I was kinda looking at mufflers, but none really caught my ear. I like being quiet for a change lol.
I'd like to get a new ring and pinion for my differential or use the money towards 16-18 bypasses.

How does your dad feel about it? If you tell him some folks on the forum said to watch out for the lean conditions, etc while you were just asking about the install, you can watch his response and see if he's okay with you refunding it. Once you introduce the doubt and tell him you're a little worried, he'll probably suggest you take it back. Then you can be like, "yeah, and you know, my differential could really use a ring and pinion, etc". I suggest you put the relationship first, and get his buy in before any suggestions of taking it back.

Yeah. So I went to the Toyota Dealer they said because it was a special order there is a 20% restocking fee...

I think I'm just going to throw it on there.
