    Rain Visors,
I have a V6 with the 6speed TRD OR. and sometimes wish i got the 4cly. I do haul a lot of crap around, a lot of the time. And I do get 17+ all the time. But most of my driving is commute and sometimes i thing the 4cly would have been better. It's cheaper to maintain, it's notorious for lasting way past 200K, and it eats less gas. Don't get me wrong, I love my 6, and i load it silly and it goes with ease, but I think I would have done just fine with the 4cly....but my wife will murder me if i ever tell her that, so i love my 6

Yea thats what I'm thinking George. 4x4 for the beach and the winter time. SR5 because thats alot of nice little extras for a grand especially if I'm gonna have the truck for a while. The 2.7 is bullet-proof and is good on gas. Great for the trails around the gun club too.

Seems like an efficient go anywhere do anything, and bring all your shit type vehicle that will run for the next 10 years with no problem.

I have the 4cylinder Prerunner SR5 and it gets amazing gas mileage. Also, if you are sold on the 4 test drive the auto vs. the stick. I think if you get the 4 you gotta get the stick, if you get the auto get the 6.

Get an SR5 you will not regret it.

The 4 cyl 4x4 will be perfect for you! Especially if you want a truck that wont kill you on gas for commuting. Im averageing 20 mpg with mostly City driving. Hard to find a 4x4 Truck or SUV that can do that these days!
Power is decent. I wouldnt tow anything heavier than 2-3000lbs, but it can haul anything you need! Bullet proof engine too!

The SR-5 package is worth every penny! I know the US SR-5 package is different than the package in Canada, but I say get it! You want a truck that you will be comfortible with down the road.

I drive on the beach all the time loaded, the truck not me, well there was that one time. Anyway I have never had any problems and have even pulled people out who didnt know how to drive in the sand. 4cyl for me is fine and I have had some high HP trucks. Its all in how you drive it.

Well it certainly seems like an SR5 AC 4x4 4cyl is the way to go for me. In magnetic grey of course. It's a huge investment to me being 21 years old and a college student...part of the reason why I'm going toyota is because I need to know it's gonna last for me.

ive put a little over 18k on mine since ive got it, ive done a few things to help with the low end and overall power, it seems to do just fine with my 2000 lbs kubota diesel mower that i haul twice a week im averaging somewhere around 23mpg unloaded

You wouldn't believe the harcore off-roading me and my bro used to do in his 1981 4 cyl. Toyota 4 x 4 back in the day. They had a lot less power than the new 4 bangers. Got more HP than the Ford Ranger 3.0L V6.--159 vs. 148.

And turns as much torque while getting 3-4 better MPG. The 3.0 is a dog of a 6 cylinder, trust me, i used to drive one. Ford finally got smart and got rid of the 3.0 on 09.

^^^ yeah the 3.0 was a dog, but it was a bulletproof engine much like the toyota 4cyl (22r, 22r-e, etc..)

I am also considering a 4cyl 5speed 4x4 access cab tacoma... ive driven a few and they had plenty of power IMO

Yeah, it ( the 3.0 ) is a good reliable engine. Just that more cylinders doesn't necessarily mean more power. Thats all I meant.
