K&N Air Filter

Hey Everyone! I installed K&N Air filter on my truck yesterday! I heard that some people don't recommend that b/c sensors could go off. Has anyone here installed this and had their sensors go off? Thanks in advance!

The major issue from K&N filters comes from issues with over oiling. When you pulled the filter and clean it, you have to recoat it with oil. If you put too much, it can make a mess of the MAF filter.

There are also some sites around that have compared filters and found K&N wanting if I remember...Not sure where the links are...but they are around.

I have one, it was oiled to hell when I installed it... (didn't know much about the sensors till later down the road) however I've had no issues.

I've had K&N's for years.... on various vehicles.

Make sure the filter is seated properly in your airbox.
Check it regulary.... I used to clean mine every 6 months. If it gets too dirty, it won't filter properly.

Buy the K&N cleaning kit and follow the instructions. When you remove the K&N to clean it.....install a spare paper filter in the truck until you're done cleaning the K&N. Let the K&N fully dry overnight before you apply the oil and reinstall in the truck.

I ran one for a while years ago, until I took my intake off and saw all the dirt getting by it.

I decided to take mine off and put back the OEM air filter back. On my last car, I had problems with check engine light always coming on and that's the last thing that I want! Chris4x4, what air filter do you run your truck?

I run the OEM Toyota filter. I havent found a filter that filters as well, and flows good.

My whole family runs them, never had a problem, no CEL just follow the instructions and they do take a long time to dry

I agree with Chris, stock is a better filter although K&N flows better.
