    Looking for advice from all you experts. I just purchased a 2015 TRD, when, after 200 miles out the door, the check engine light came on. Long story short, one of the valves was milled 1/32nd inch too long, thus messing up combustion, etc. Local service solution is to replace the entire head. I will accept nothing short of a new truck, as I consider the one I bought defective prior to purchase. What would your minimum level of acceptance be? Thanks!

    They will replace any defective parts under warranty.

    You'll have a better chance of seeing God than the dealer swapping it for another new truck.

    Do explain the chain of events that led up to the discovery or a longer valve.

    A free new truck and one of those fr-s scion things on a trailer behind it.

    I think that's acceptable.

    Anyway let's be real here. If you get a new truck I'd be surprised. Put the new head on and an extended power train warranty to cover any problems that might arise.

    I don't know why everyone seems to think a problem with a vehicle equals new truck.

    This sounds about right. Make them give you an extended warranty 7/125k i think is the longest.

    My maximum level of acceptance would be an 8 year/125k warranty to cover my ass.

    There's nothing wrong with the whole truck, you had ONLY an issue with a valve. Let them replace it all under warranty as they're obligated to do and move on with life. You didn't do anything but buy a truck, you don't deserve or require a brand new replacement.

    If you don't like the truck now, sell it. Buy something else. Welcome to TW.

    Shit happens, just do the repair. What do you really expect from a new truck?

    It's about the mentality of "I'm inconvenienced, so I'll punish Big Corporate and they will pay". That type of 'Merican dream almost always never materializes.

    Refund!!!!!

    Give it back its not what you pay for.
    If you wanted a go back to the Dealer truck you would of bought a GM.

    No way you keep it.

    I agree with refund. Check your purchasing paperwork, and see what you are bound to. 200 miles I would think they could give you your money back, and you can start over.

    Perhaps you missed the fact that the condition (poorly milled valve) existed when I bought the new truck and only have 200 miles on it. I appreciate your advice, but I don't see where swapping for another new truck is making "corporate" pay.

    Corporate IS paying, for parts and labor to replace the cylinder head. The defect is being corrected at their expense. Would you rather a defect that was discovered 200 miles after your warranty expired?

    No, I did not miss the fact that the condition of your truck's valve(s) is substandard, prior to your purchase.

    I feel bad that you got a problem valve head. I'd be pissed if I were in your shoes with this issue. Rest easy, Toyota will correct any issue your truck has without you spending a penny.

    Your response of my post 'Making corporate pay' holds true. That may not be 100% you, but that is how many think when they feel they got the short end of the stick..... Ask for a free extended warranty, you'll most likely get it, but don't hold your breath on a new truck swap, because your current truck is not deemed a lemon.

    I'd let them do the repair, see about an extended powertrain warranty and call it good.

    <blasphemy>
    Regardless of Toyota, GM, Ford, Chrysler - they are man-made, and are not going to be perfect. Every car manufacturer has issues (albeit some more than others ... *cough*GM*cough)
    </blasphemy>

    Just my 2 cents.

    You bought a fine peace of engineering brand new that's what expected and you deserve, they are not loosing anything ,they will sell it as a demo and will give another fish a perfectly good repaired Tacoma for a 1000 $ off...

    If you feel ok with a warranty its fine too but you should get something that makes you happy

    They are still paying. Paying parts and labor.

    enjoy your extended warranty. There is no "refund" on vehicles. And you will have the same truck unless you trade it in.
