Help. My speedometer and odometer do not work. Speedo does not move and odometer digital display is just displaying a mileage which never changes. I have a 2005 doublecab 4x4 v6 there are two vss on the transmission how do I test these to find out if one or both is bad? Or maybe one of y'all know how to fix?

First thing I would do is check every fuse in the truck before replacing any parts. Always start with the simple stuff. Hope this helps.

I have went through all fuses. There is one code showing up. The code is for the vss. I should also note that all four of my abs wheel speed sensors have snapped off. I have been driving like this for years now. I was just interested if there was some way to test the input/drivers' side vss

Automatic transmission speedometer/odometer gets its input from the ABS sensors whereas the manual transmission gets its speed from the VSS in the t-case. If you have an automatic, your busted ABS sensors is why your speedometer isn't working. The speed sensors in the auto transmission are solely used for shift solenoid control, not for speed indication.

Thanks for that info. So why would the only code be my vss while there is no code showing up for the wheel speed sensor/abs? They are broke so there should be a code. And while I'm on that has anyone seen a thread on fixing abs sensors? Toyota told me I have to replace both the front and rear harness systems. Is it possible to buy just the bolt in sensor part?

The ABS computer doesn't work on the same OBDII system that sets the MIL. No MIL codes are generated from an ABS sensor error, only the ABS light at the TRAC light come on from the skid control ECU. You can buy the sensors they are about $150 each.
