tall skinnies ruin snow, the only time you want wide for snow is crazy deep stuff (beyond your clearance). theres a reason all the snow rally cars ride on super skinny tires....

2nd pic I'm chained up in the rear too, and pretty skilled in snow driving, but yeah. Tall + skinny unless your tires are big enough, aired down (and the snow is stiff enough) to float on top.

I may have my nest set of tires,

I am still on stocks but am closing in on NC State Insp time and my almost 30K Dunlops are not going to pass.

So we have confirmed you can't get a 235/85/16 in a load range C?

to the best of my knowledge they're all load range E. I'm still getting 20-21mpg tho, on winter gas at that.

I have an opportunity to get this size tire very cheep off a friend who just blew up his truck in almost new condition. Will they fit without a lift?

Thanks. Looks like they work good in the snow. Won't get them for a week or two. But I'm a little excited now lol

Yea, they work fine without a lift and are absurdly good in the snow. Living in Maine for this record winter they were unstoppable, it was great

Ya tons of snow here in the Sebago Lake area to and now mud to come. Going to try some light off roading and figured these would be nice to have.

I'm running them in Dura Tracs, they work great with the little 4 banger and 5 speed.

Anybody running these tires (235/85) have trouble with vsc? I've been reading about vsc randomly activating with larger tires than stock. 235/85s are only about 1.2" taller, i wonder if they will cause problems in a truck with no lift. Any experience?

They haven't caused a problem on mine, but I haven't driven it that much yet.

I could be entirely wrong, but my impression was that VSC was usually a problem with lift rather than just tires. Especially if the lift significantly changes the rake (front vs. rear lift height). If the alignment work associated with doing the lift decenters the steering wheel then that also screws up VSC and requires a VSC recalibration. But I thought just slightly bigger tires on a stock suspension wouldn't do anything to VSC - again, I could be wrong about that.

sweet, I love the look of this size.

I'm thinking about trying the Hercules Terra Trac ATII. Heard good things elsewhere on the forum. I like that they're pretty light for an E range tire. Their site claims a shipping weight of 39.9 lbs per tire. The lightest 235/75-16 I've seen around.
