Quick tire update, simply because I wish I had some of this info when I was searching and would like to pass it along.

Got a set of 235/85/16 General Grabber AT2's (E-rated, only option), zero rubbing, chalk test seems to like 33psi cold on my 09 access cab 2.7 .

Bought, mounted and balanced at walmart for~700, they'll tell you they cant do it since its not a stock size but if you ask to speak to a manger and sign a waiver then all is gravy.

MPGs wise I've only lost 1-2 at most depending on the day, no issues or anything getting going with the heavier tires.

I do find I need to rev a bit higher between shifts to cleanly shift, but it also sits about 2-300 rpm lower at highway speeds with the taller tire.

This tire absolutely makes snow its bitch.

Definitely considering this size when my 265s wear out. I just worry it will look a little goofy with 2.5 inches of lift and wheel spacers.

Shouldn't look goofy as they are almost the same diameter. Unless you don't like a skinny tire.

ETA: I would also like to see some pictures please. Thinking about using this size for my next tires.

I ran 235/85r16 on my last tacoma which had a 3" lift and it looked great in a utilitarian military vehicle kind of way. I would skip the spacers. I think that may look goofy.

That should be enough pics? We've had over 20" of snow since yesterday AM, and I was out kicking some but in it while trucks with wider tires were all over, and struggling. The city plow truck was stuck, I almost offered to winch him free even though they had the backhoe there to rescue him.

I'm well aware they are Duratracs and not Grabber AT2s, I thought the thread was more about 235/85R16s than the exact tire brand and model. :notsure:

I built the winch mount, here's the thread on it:

thats a sweet tire size.... i wish they made em in a P rated or load range C, Cus that general grabber in that size in a load range E is 12lbs heavier than my hankook dynapro in a 265/75R16 which is the same diameter.

Yeah, the grabbers are a heavy tire to begin with, the 235/85 'tracs are 47 lbs, vs. the 51 on the grabbers but I agree, would be nice if a C rated 235/85 was available.

So contrary to popular belief it looks like tall skinnies are good in the deep stuff, too. That is damn impressive for a stock truck with open diffs. I have been stuck as phuck in much less than that on my Firestone Destination AT's. I think my next tires will be 235/85r16's, either Duratrac or Cooper ST Maxx. Thanks for the pics!
