2014 Entune dropping out

Seemingly at random, the Entune will stop playing a track from my USB drive. At first, it would stop for a couple of seconds, then start back. Today, it stopped and didn't start up again until I shut the radio off and turned it back on. Then it started happening every couple of minutes.

Any ideas?

 

What software version are you running? I'm assuming its updated as its a 14', but you never know.

 

Not surprised, Entune is crap. I guess the USB must drop out just like the FM, XM, weather, and HD. I am SO disappointed in the Entune. My cheap $50 external XM unit blows the Entune away as far as reception.

There have been reports of loose connections under the shark fin but usually it's just normal Entune crappy operation.

I have one very similar, for that exact reason. It happened again today and I noticed the playback progress paused, so it's definitely the HU and not loose speaker wires or something.

 

Perhaps try another USB drive temporarily, and see if it does the same thing.

 

Yeah, try another drive. I had a bad drive and tried another and it worked fine. I use thumb drives with a usb extension cord.

I never use the radio but do use sat radio 90% of the time and never have cut outs. It has weak reception compared to my CX9 though. My CX picks up signal in parking garages and car washes.

The Entune HU sucks compared to other stock units I've seen. Can't wait for Apple CarPlay to release a unit with sat radio built in, then this unit is getting replaced.

 

Do yourself a favor and kill your Entune with fire.

Those of you that have replaced the Entune- did you find one that allows you to keep all the steering wheel controls, mic, bluetooth, and rear camera?
