Using Hi Lift

    Hi Guys. New to the forum and a novice 4wheeler. Question: can I use the stock chrome tube steps as a jack point with Hi Lift? If not, then where? Stock bumpers.

    Don't do it. The safe answer is lift by the wheels or slider.

    If you have a receiver in the rear you can use that as a lift point. Also you can buy an accessory that allows connecting to wheels.

    So no options other than wheel/slider?

    stock truck could maybe use the hitch and thats about it. They have adapters for wheels but never saw the point especially if using the hilift to change that wheel then it wouldnt work. I can use a highlift on my front and rear aftermarket bumpers and the sliders welded to my frame.

    I blew a bead in the dunes once ... Fellow member assisted with his hi-lift and wheel adapter. Worked perfect to lift the wheel up out of the sand, and to seat the tire back on the wheel

    All the mods
    Using the hi-lift on a wheel is more for lodging a rock or something under there so you can get more traction.

    I understand but the most common reason Ive seen or used a hilift on the trail is because of a flat tire. If you want it to be able to lift your truck to add traction then get maxtrax not a hilift. Hi lifts are scary in your driveway but on the trail its worse. I actually carry a jack stand to lower the truck onto cuz no way am I pulling off a 33 mud terrain while the truck is being held up by a hilift on the trail.

    Its an amazing tool because it is like a swiss army knife for offroading but its not really great at any of the tasks. It can winch but not as good as a winch. It can lift a truck but not as good as a floor jack. It can allow you to place traction under the wheels but not as well as maxtrax.
