Get the newest one you can find. Preferably a 2015 since the 2016 looks like piss.

If you are getting a late model used you might as well get a brand new one since it will only be about 1000-1500 more expensive.

Decide what you want in the truck, access cab, double cab, short or long bed. Will you be towing anything or going offroad on occasion? And then I'd agree, get a '15 for the warranty, unless you like the 2016. Then wait for that.

    This.

Mine was maybe 4k brand new with all I wanted or I could settle for nothing I wanted except it being a Tacoma for slightly less. I went new.

    none yet
True...., that was why I bought mine new. I was on a mission to buying a used truck but the more I searched for a used TACO with lower mileage, and in he price range I was willing to pay, the more frustrated I became . I ended saying "fawk it!"and that was when I stopped wasting my time searching for a used truck ;) ;)

Plus about 5 on new vs used... I nearly pulled the plug on a 2012 and then realized I could get a brand new one for a 2k difference (Between the asking price on the 2012, and the price I paid on new) Same truck, same options, except one was brand new. They were asking 29k for the 2012, 30k miles. I got the brand new 14 for 31k. No Brainer, especially if you can get better financing on new it will probably offset the cost, plus 2 years free maintenance. Warranty is about the same since the 2012 was certified from the dealer.

True, except you probably could have gotten the 12 for 26,000 easy. 5k isn't enough for some to choose used over new, for others it is.

All good points to go new vs used. To me the price difference isn't worth going used.

I found the same with Used VS New, for the price I went New.

Unless you find a private party really wanting to get rid of one and don't know what it is worth.

I find it somewhat comical that it's widely agreed that one of the many good things about these trucks is they hold their value well and in turn, have good resale value. And here we all are saying buy new. I sure hope people out there still value the used trucks, or maybe Toyota needs to raise the price of new. There is nothing wrong with buying used. If you find a decent price. I argue 27k for a Tacoma with 30,000 miles is still a fair price for a really good truck.

Most definitely want Extended Cab,Towing? If I do it'll only be a tailor for maybe mowers and such,Off Road? Not likely only during hunting season.By reading all the replies, seems the consensus is just to go ahead with Newer opposed to used with low mileage. If I do go used with low mileage is there a certain year that I should look at as opposed to others?Thanks...

Year doesn't matter so much. There are only a few changes over the years. I guess 2012+ they tried to address the rear suspension issues, and everything 2012+ is pretty much interchangeable. It's important to check the frame for any rust issues. I know some places will treat the frame and offer a 10 year rust warranty on 2012 and newer trucks. Just depends what you can find. If it's not out there, you can always buy new.
