My 15 Tacoma is the first vehicle I have ever owned where the maps lights on the ceiling above the center console do not come on when you open the door but the dome light does. My wife's 08 Highlanders map and dome lights come on when you open the door. Am I crazy or does this just sound like a miss by Toyota? It just seems really dim for interior lights.

They don't come on when you open the door. It is what it is.

Add a resistor to the wire of the map lights and they will turn on with the dome light. There is a write up on how to do this on TW, takes less than 5 minutes. One of the first mods I did to my truck .
