Has anyone had fitment issues with the 2" nerf bar steps? I have a '14 double cab and the bars are marked drivers / passenger side respectfully and the steps are contradictory to the installation instructions.
"Position the step to the driver side of the vehicle. NOTE: The short end of the step board should be located at the front of the vehicle. Test fit the step board to the factory hole locations. NOTE: The step should line up with the existing factory bolt locations.

3. Starting with the center bracket, start one 8mm hex bolt, 8mm lock washer and 8mm flat washer into the factory bolt location. NOTE: Step board should hang in location with the bent flange towards the rear of the vehicle."

The steps I have are the opposite flanges forward, long end of step forward. This is how they are marked and the bars touch the front frame cab mount.

Have heard a lot of issues with these. Don't buy any of the Smittybilt junk. Strictly buy the N Fab stuff.

Even though the bars are labeled for driver's side and passenger side, have you tried changing sides?

I have the regular N-fabs and they fit fine...instructions are a bit backwards as far as how the flanges bend. They need to be installed with the shortest secion of empty bar at the front of the vehicle which places the actual front step towards the front of the door opening. If I remember right the instructions state the flanges bend towards the back, but this is wrong....posted up photos and such a couple of weeks ago that show the correct orientation for the install. Hope this helps.

RKCRUZA & bludweiaer I see that both of you have these bars on your Taco. Do you have ample clearance in the front of the bars near the frame to cab mounts. Mine touch and I'm sure road noise will transmit into the cab.

I have the 2" bars and there is about a 1/2" clearance to the pinch weld which is the closest point to the bars. I have them shoved as far forward as the mounting slots allow. Seems to be some issues with the Chinese smittybuilt versions, also the 3" tubes are much closer. No issues at all with mine. (I have the actual N-Fab built steps)

I've been going back and forth with Smittybilt and the vendor. At this point I just want to return them for a refund. They are still in the box in my garage, did a test fit and took them off. I won't install them if they don't fit correctly.

Send them back and get N-Fabs. SmittyBuilt licenses the design from N-fab, but they are import and have had lots of reports of poor quality control.
