I've done this on other trucks but now it's time to replace this on my 06 Tacoma. Seems everything I've been able to find on the internet is for 04 or earlier. Can anyone point me to a good thread or just give me some tips like should I drop the whole driveshaft? Do I remove the middle u joint? How easy to press the bearing off? 2006 4x4 double cab....

    Man, why can't it be a 2 piece !

    According to Chilton:
    1. Raise the vehicle...
    2. Remove the driveshaft...
    3. Clamp the driveshaft in a bench vice
    4. Mark the center u-joint yoke and driveshaft, then disassemble the center u-joint
    5. Mark the relationship of the intermediate shaft to the yoke or flange...
    6. U stake and remove the nut, then remove the yoke from the intermediate shaft.
    7. Remove the center bearing from the intermediate shaft.
    8. Installation is the reverse of removal....new yoke nut

If you don't have a press or removal tools just pay someone to do it. It is a pain in the ass. Just getting the yoke off the int/ shaft was real work.

You should be able to use a jaw puller to remove the bearing then drive the new bearing on enough with a socket and hammer to get the nut started. You will need a at least a good vice to do the u joints right.
