I have an 08 2WD TRD Sport. It has posi tract...tow package and is nicely equipped.

What is the difference between the TRD Off Road and the TRD Sport? Is it just the Off Road is 4WD?

Hood scoop and locker are the biggest differences

2008 was the last year that the TRD Sports came with an actual LSD.

sport has the scoop and a limited slip differential. The off-road has no scoop and the locker.

The locker will have both wheels in the rear spinning the same time and the LSD will have one wheel pick up for the other wheels loss of traction

OK...that's what I thought so here's where my confusion comes in.

The other day I tested this out. I was in a sandy area and spun the rear wheels. Afterwards I looked at the tracks I made and both wheels spun the same distance and what appeared to be the same depth.

If it was limited slip wouldn't the tracks have looked differently? Or am I just reading too much into this and need to shut up?

It should look pretty equal. The big difference in how a locker and LSD perform is what happens when one wheel comes off the ground. The LSD will send most of it's power to the wheel off of the ground because it is spinning freely. The locker will continue sending 50% to each wheel.
