    USERNAME - I would enjoy seeing the expression on the preps face if they tried to elbow their way into the truck. Auto glass does not break like the windows in your house.

    But I bet you lock your house doors!

    My camry you could change the auto lock options on the screen. My friends 14 4Runner had no option for that. Tacoma, no option for it. Rav4 has the option.

    You'd think they would keep things the same across the board.

    Child safety locks are a standard feature in our trucks right?

    Ditto!!, I think this feature is not used because many people (Including myself) find it very annoying!!!!! If I want the truck locked, there is a button, jmop

    I avoid strippers with glitter, lipstick, or perfume unless the wife is with me.

    On topic, I only lock my doors in sketchy places and coast to avoid stopping at lights.

    and I hate the fact that they all do not unlock with one push of the button. Toyotas should be programmable by the driver like Fords. Last Ford I owned defaulted to auto lock but you could change it. You could also set the remote to unlock all doors with one push of the button on the remote.

    I'd love to see a mod that auto locks my doors. I miss this feature from my 2000 Civic back in the day, that also had heated fucking side mirrors.

    Ok, here is an update. I was able to identify what 3 wires are used to lock and unlock doors from the switches on the door panel as well as a location to tap into them. I still need to pull the center console out to find the wires that go between the shifter and the indicator lights on the instrument cluster. Once I find these I can work on installing a simple relay, capacitor and resistor circuit that will momentarily send power to the appropriate wires to lock the doors when the shifter is put into drive.

    I'll probably start a new thread with a write up on how to do this once I get done. That way If people don't want to do the mod they can simply read it and move on. The people that do want to do the mode can follow step by step instructions including pictures without all the bullshit that is already in this thread. :rofl:

    I think its a great idea, I've wanted to do this for a while now. I had someone attempt to carjack me before and fortunately my doors were locked (b/c of auto lock in an Acura). Car jackers move fast and catch you off guard, if they break a window, you can still just floor it, but if they open the door, they can just jump in. I'd be interested in having the doors lock when you reach speeds of 5MPH or higher. and stay locked when you put it in park.

    Wouldn't it be easier to tap the switch on the shifter's connector for "park" to control locking and unlocking? When you put the truck in "park", activate the momentary switch to unlock. When you pull out of "park", activate the switch to lock.

    I have taken apart one of these gated shifters before (to swap it into a normal single-stack auto shifter car) and there's a connector or two for position signaling. Because the vehicle does other things depending on whether or not you're in park, like let you have your key back. I think I've also tapped the connector for a reverse signal.

    I hope you find a solution as this comes up now and then. I don't think I'd do it because after I click the belt, I push the button to lock the doors. It works for me but I know lots of guys have gotten used to this feature from other cars they have had.

    I am very interested in how this can be done. I am a musician, and it is a pain in the ass to come home, get out, unlock my tonneau, unload the bed, open the passenger rear, forget it's locked, my keys are in the house now, walk around, open driver's door, unlock the doors. Hate this. :eek:

    Drive = Locked
    Park = Unlocked

    I'll probably look into this a bit further once all the snow is gone and it may have to wait for some much warmer weather.

    There will be a few options. I'm planning on having separate relays for locking and unlocking as well as an option to only unlock the driver's side or be able to have all doors unlock when the shifter is placed in park. This will use a momentary lock or unlock so the keyless lock/unlock feature of the remote and the switches on the doors will be able to override it.
