Purchased my '09 Taco 5 months ago. I put 3,300 miles on it and the
(maintenance required) dash light is staying on.
The dealer service department told me it will go on every 5,000 miles
and just bring it in to get it reset. That's gonna be a pain to do 2-3 times a year.
I'm good at keeping up with my vehicle's maintenance without a light.
Is that their way to get you in?
Anyone else experienced this and any other way to override?

If you're looking to reset it.....you owners manual will tell you how to reset it. It will also tell you that the oil is due to be changed at 5,000 miles.

The light flashes at 4500 and stays on constant at 5000 miles.

Obviously...you drove it 3300 miles since you bought it. So...therefore... the dealership performed an oil change 1700 miles before you bought it.

Yeah, not sure why the dealership couldn't tell you how to reset it yourself. That's a lot of wasted time just to push a button. LOL

    Quick tip..........

If you choose to move to full syn and 10k OCIs, when the light comes on the first time, reset it, and your change will be due the next time it comes on.
