Just thought it would be good to share this for those struggling with related issue.

    Problem:
2013 Tacoma 2.7L was having starting issues in which it crank fine but took at least 15 seconds to actually turn over. The problem was worse as the day got hotter. In fact in the cool morning it started fine. During the hot afternoons after the laborious start subsequent starts soon after cranked up fine.
    1. I had the battery and alternator tested, they were fine.
    2. I took it to the dealer, they of course could not duplicate the issue, but recommended I perform schedule maintenance to include a Throttle body cleaning.
    3. I allowed the dealer to perform the maintenance and it resolved the issue completely.

    Solution:
B2684-3 PART BG FUEL INDUCTION KIT
37714 DIRTY THROTTLE BODY (PERFORMED 3 PART EFI SERVICE)

    Dealer cost: 147.99

If the work was not done under warranty, save your receipt.

How many miles on the 13? Should this be covered by warranty or is it like a wear and tear issue?

You should not have to do this on a vehicle with only 38K miles IMO.

What does this add to the thread? The guy posted his problem and the solution that worked for him.

Wil, unless I was using bad gas or driving in extremely dirty conditions, I would submit a warranty claim directly to Toyota USA with a copy of my receipt.

It has been my experience over the last 15 years, owning several honda and toyota 4 cyls, that valve check/adjustment and throttle body service at 30 and 60K and beyond, is a worthwhile expense. That dealer should have at least given you the valve service being so close to 36K. Couldn't hurt to ask.

It is an opinion. I think his issue is / was something else.

What did your post add to the conversation?
