Basing your OCI on 'feelings' or 'color of the oil'?

Please. You might as well use the old 8 ball to get your instructions.

Spend the time and a few bucks to get a sample tested at Blackstone and let them tell you what you can really do, based on what the oil really says.

It's not just the oil, it's also the health of the individual motor and of course how the motor is used, both in load and conditions. Some need shorter intervals, most can use longer. Much longer.

And use the same testing to verify the mid cycle filter change, or not. Letting it ride one time isn't going to break anything.

Don't do 10k in a year? Let the time ride too. You may well find you have quite healthy oil after a couple of years.

Please, don't bother arguing, flaming, or anything else unless you have actual test results to post, along with all the parameters of the vehicle tested.

I'm in Canada so I use Mobil 1 5w30 and either a Toyota or Mobil 1 filter, both changed every 10,000 kms... So 6,200 ish miles.

OEM filter, Mobil 1, every 5000 per the manual due to warranty requirements. I'd consider longer once out of warranty. I'd also use a lab for testing if going beyond 5,000.

Mobil 1 synthetic and oem filter every 5,302 mi. Some say go 10k with oil and change filter every 5k, but if I'm removing that damned oil filter I might as well put some fresh blood in there. My 302 cents

    none yet
Currently 5k just to be in compliance with Toy's recommendation. I plan to only change it every 6k - 7k after the Toy's warentee has expired.

Every 10k miles. Mobil 1 synthetic, Toyota filter. I hardly ever tow or haul a load with it.

I don't trust any oil past 5,000 unless BlackWhatever testing facility tells you it's good. They partially lie about the longevity to look good. OEM filter all the way.

I run Napa synthetic for 2-3k intervals (about 6 months worth of driving for me) with OEM filters. The oil gets cheap when on sale and changing the oil itself on the V6 is so easy. The inside of my engine still looks brand new through the oil filler cap.

I once got a UOA done by Blackstone and they did say I can run the oil for 5k miles or more.

Once it is out of warranty I will go 10k and test it. If it is ok I may try 12 or 15 and test. 5k is a waste of oil, time, and money.

    Prove it.

And what would they have to gain from providing inaccurate data?
