    Question first:
    Explanation below..

    Question
Will using a non chipped key (made at Home depot) disable the Taco?
    2015 model

    Explanation and thinking
I am moving to Colorado and want to have the ability to leave the truck running if I have to get out for a brief period of time and be able to keep the door locked.

The key FOB does not function with the factory key in the ignition. What I'm thinking is that if I leave the Factory key in the little tray on the right side of the steering wheel and use the home depot key in the ignition, I will be able to lock/unlock with the key FOB and leave the truck running.

    All advice welcome.:)

Get an alarm with remote start installed? No key left in the running truck, doors locked, alarm on.

dealer is installing remote start this week while I go to Colorado to house hunt.

    However,
I would like to leave the truck running if I run into a store, go to another building across base... etc etc...

I have a Viper alarm with remote start. Before I turn the ign off, I can press the remote start. I can then remove the key, lock the doors/turn the alarm on, and the truck stays running. No key left in the truck, and if someone sets the alarm off, the truck turns off. If I don't set the alarm and someone tries to steal the truck, it turns off as soon as the brake pedal is pressed and the shifter remains locked without the key in the ignition.

Just use the grey valet key in the ign and when you get out, use the key on the fob to lock the doors.
