upgrade headers and exhaust without making my taco loud

    hello there everyone. looking for some advice. i want to upgrade my headers and entire exhaust system for performance not sound. i like to have a sleeper truck. i am also putting in a supercharger. i want my truck to be mean, but the kind that blends right in. up until the point i leave you in the dust. any advice?

    Pretty much any modification to the exhaust and the sound is going to change. With these trucks it is usually not incredibly noticeable until you are getting on it and are in higher RPM's.

    you are not going to see performance gains of any significance unless you change induction completely around as well..IE turbo or blower and ECU updates

    if a simple exhaust reconfig while keeping it quiet would increase power then toyota would already have slapped it in there. even 5hp is significant in marketing terms.

    toyota is giving me a new frame so i figured i would have them put the headers on for me when the truck is apart

    Well then, that makes a huge difference. Any performance exhaust is going to be louder, muffler any how. As stated earlier, an exhaust alone isn't going to do much performance wise, but when you are force fed, ie, supercharged, that extra exhaust gas needs to get out. That's why the supercharger kit comes with the exhaust. Don't think your going to end up with a sleeper when they can hear the blower at the stop light.

    Get a electric cutout for the exhaust. Then you can be quiet all day then open it up when you need to let the supercharger breathe

    This isnt true, there is an exhaust system that gives gains.
