Just purchased a 2K15 Tacoma and needed to have two mountain bike mounts. The OEM ones are great but very pricey.

I bought a pair of Delta Bike Hitch Fork Wheel QR Mounts off of E-Bay for about $36.00 delivered. Then to the hardware store for 4 nuts, bolts and washers. I bought smaller washers for the bolt and two larger washers and ground them down so they would fit "the channel".

After I got home I wondered how I was going to get a wrench on the bolt so I could tighten the nut. After a bit of wonderment and playing around I realized my 1/2" wrench would "just" fit in the channel if you inserted it in one of the "detents" in the rail. Look for them and you will see them.

Anyway the Delta mounts work perfect and I can put a padlock on them if I have to stop on the way home. I am going to make a sheet metal "cap" for the opposite of side of the lock, that way there will be a bit more protection if someone wants to attempt to get the bike.

Here are a few pictures of the end result. Hope it works for you too.

Great post. OEM is over-priced but plug and play. Rocky Mounts make a good set also, but your fix wins the $ battle.

Nice, I have the same fork mounts. Just bought my '15 Taco this weekend and plan on mounting the fork mounts. I am on a search for hardware that's made for those channels. If I cant find anything, I may have to go the DIY route like you did.
