i think the majority of my idle tick/tap is coming from the driver front cat shield, i got under the truck with it running and pushed up on it with a drop piece of 2x4 and it quieted down a good bit, so how do i remove it? does it bolt together or do i need to take my 4 in grinder with a cut off wheel do it?:D

Heat shields do perform the shielding function. Top ones for the Truck and bottom side ones (if equipped) to help prevent fires should you park on long grass and etc. If it's falling off, might as well - or get a long metal hose like clamp.
