My truck has wandered since I bought it. I just assumed it was because of the 10 ply 285s the previous owner put on. But lately Ive noticed a pretty noticeable clunk through the steering wheel and the wandering to be getting worse. Finally had someone wiggle the steering as I checked everything out. There is definite movement in the steering rack bushings. Not tons but I don't know if I should see any. How soft are the factory ones? There is also a metal on metal clank when the steering is cycled. Sounds like its coming from in the steering rack itself. Anybody have experience with these steering rack issues? I really hope I don't need a whole new rack. Thanks

Bad bushings are common...rack should not move when you cycle the steering wheel. Replace them with Poly bushings for longer life and better all round use.
