question about all the traction controls

There is an abandoned parking lot where I live that has hills etc. I like going there after the snowstorms to play with all the features on my truck. Today I literally used everything. 4hi, 4lo, rr diff lock, atrac(makes awesome sounds) etc. It is really fun to purposely get stuck on a deep snowy hill and let the features work. My question is, is it bad in any way to regularly use these features? Is it beating on the truck? My thinking is it is good to regularly use everything to keep things moving etc.

And also what about the transmission(auto). Going forward and reverse a lot to rock out of stucks.

 

I dont know......... I mean sometimes U gotta do it but Im not a trans expert.

use it or loose it! gotta regularly use the 4HI and 4Lo to move the actuators so they dont get frozen. Also may as well tap the atrac on and off and see what it does for ya. (its pretty damn amazing in my experience)

As far as rocking back and forth. Thats hard on the trans if you are not letting it get into gear before gettin on the gas. IE leaving your foot on the gas and just moving the shifter. If you are going forward get stuck. Stop. put in reverse, give it a sec, then go backwards. stop. shift, give it a sec then repeat your fine. Bout the only thing is trans temps. but this is why you have 4Lo.

all configurable, plus it scans, reads, and clears check engine lights.

I have mine mounted here now and the configuration is the same, except I swapped the horsepower calculator for voltage

 

I always wait until I come to a complete stop before shifting. The father taught me that one.

ATRAC got me out of a snowdrift yesterday

parked in a snowbank to go to work, came out 9 hrs later, truck buried

4x4 hi, slipping, no movement, stuck
4x4 lo + atrac, she crept out, didn't need to try locker.

it was close though almost had to shovel

 

A-TRAC for the win!

Using all the traction systems is a GOOD thing... keep them loose and ready for use!

Never got stuck since A-TRAC was added... so no rocking back and forth needed.

One comment on snow driving with A-TRAC... it does have throttle control to reduce wheel spin before brakes fully lock the loose tires, and that may annoy you sloshing through the snow banks. If it does, engage the rear locker (keeping A-TRAC on)... What happens is with the rear locked, A-TRAC will not be active until you drop below 3 mph (almost stuck), and it then works the front tires to keep you moving if you do stop or nearly stop.
