I have an appointment monday to get my seatbelt fixed, as well as my noisy blower motor. The seatbelt does not retract 75% of the time. Sometimes ill be driving only to discover the seatbelt so loose its on my knees. My truck is also toyota certified. Are they going to try to charge me?

Dependant on what type of TSB is being performed.

Federal law mandates a 80K mile / 96 month warranty on all Emissions related items.

I do not "think" an extended warranty will get you free TSB's as a general rule.

Usually the drive train TSBs will fall under the drive train warranty and have this statement:

    APPLICABLE WARRANTY
    • This repair is covered under the Toyota Powertrain Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 60 months or 60,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.
    • Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer’s specific complaint.

Most others will have a statement as the following on them which is the norm for everything except the Power Train and Emissions:

    APPLICABLE WARRANTY
    • This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.
    • Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.

In my opinion the seat belt and blower will fall under the 36K mile / 36 month rule. Unless the dealer does some good will...

I've had TSB parts replaced for free outside of my warranty, it just depends if the dealer is nice or not.

That is because the dealer is eating the cost.... Most will not.

Only for the period of warranty as stated on the TSB.

Recalls however are independent of mileage or time. restrictions.

Big difference between a Recall and a TSB.

you have to meet the vin number requirement

you have to meet the mileage/warranty requirement

the problem needs to be replicated by a tech and confirmed first*

*the more cars you buy from this dealer the easier it is the get 'free' TSB
no questions asked...I found out I am in this category. I can get TSB's done
with no hassle and they don't need to replicate the problem, they trust me if I say
there is a problem...'cuz they want my business and chances are I will keep buying from them

which is true, this is the best dealer ever in my book. not everyone thinks so but most
of the US and Toyota corp themselves rate this one extremely high. they save me
from myself when I want to pay extra for service I don't need, they convince me to
save my money. who does that ?

    nothing cool
Yup. I've gotten tsb work done out of warranty also. My blower fan motor to be exact. But, my family, wifes family, and my parents all buy from Olathe Toyota. So they are probably being nice and eating the cost. But, they probably love our business. I also dont take my truck there and demand every tsb in the book. Fan sounded like crap, they replaced. My leaf springs were weak, got the 3+1 leafs. To answer your question mine were all free. I was even expecting to pay for my fan motor but it was free also.

The dealer I got it from is 2.5 hours away. They told me if I have any trouble, with the certification any toyota dealer will address any issues. If they try to charge me at my local dealer I guess ill just have to drive back to where I got it, which would suck...

TSB's are strange...dealer makes a huge difference. When I bought my 02 Tundra I found out about the lousy brakes after the fact. Went to the dealer to see about the TSB and was told...nope they are fine. Asked for the sheet showing I had brough it in and they asked why I would need that....told them I was going on a 1200 mi trip and would be towing so if I had any issues I wanted it documented that I had brought the truck in.....five minutes later they wanted to know when I could leave the truck for a couple of days....Got the full big brake package at no cost (Truck was under warranty, but even under warranty you need to push the issue sometimes).

do you think an extended warranty on a used truck will cover TSB's? just bought my 09 DC TRDS with 133K, left dealer and bought extended bumper 2 bumper total coverage $0 deductible warranty (used this company before and they paid out) I just don't know if something like this would cover a TSB being 3rd owner.

The first time I tried having a TSB fix done, I printed it; then drove to a nearby dealership. The asked where did I get this. I said the WEB. Then I got to listen to all of the "we've never heard of this before" and "Toyota does not allow customers access to TSBs". It went on and on.

After threatening to go straight to the GM, the Svc. Mgr. finally agreed to apply the TSB fix.

The 2nd time I had one done I went to another dealer. No problema.

My take on TSBs is they are like warranty work in that some dealers will willingly look into your issue; others balk and try to push you away.

    Total BS
    ---
    for anyone reading this

ALL toyota technical information is available for a tiny fee and access to techinfo.toyota.com. all TSB's and every last written item about the vehicle and all specifications is available to anyone.

IIRC if you have 'god-mode' access you can even download techstream binaries for ECU updates (need to be a certified toyota technician or techstream owner for this stuff)

The only thing blocked is security information for immobilizer and alarms, for that you need to have proof you are a security professional/locksmith and then you can access that side of the info....

otherwise all TSB's are just a techinfo login away. what is it now for 24 hour access, 25 bucks ? 1 year access 350 bucks ?

True, but B4 you shell out $15.00 for a TSB, try googling the TSB number if it's known. I believe this site has a listing of the more common TSBs.

You would be surprised how many are available all over the WEB at various car sites.

I think these publicly posted ones violate the agreement you assume when accessing techinfo. I don't know if the ones posted here are allowed or frowned upon by toyota....but yes if you can google one why not ? it is how I got two TSB's done, both downloaded from here.

[I pay for two days access to techinfo about once a year for other stuff....dicking around with one of my 3 Toyotas...]
