I've looked all over here and unable to find a thread about my question. So I removed all my seats. When I went to place them back in the front screw stripped out and the threads in the hole are now messed up and destroy any bolt I put in there. i. Wondering if this has happened to anyone else and what did you do

I bought new bolts from Toyota and Im pretty sure they are a 10m x 1.25 pitch tapered bolt. If I am going to tap it what size bolt will I need to find and where can I get a bolt of the correct grade for the seat? Or should I have a welder put some metal down the hole and tap it to the original size?

First I'd try to re tap the hole. If that doesn't work just drill it out and run a longer bolt and use a nut to tighten it from underneath the truck, if you look in the hole you can see it it's open to the ground.

Did you just destroy one bolt hole?

The best option depends on how far you forced the cross threaded bolt through and how badly destroyed the original threads.

First I would run the proper tap through the nut and see if it can correct the remaining threads. If that works install a new bolt and let it roll.

If that failed I would drill it for the next larger size, tap it using the larger tap and install a larger bolt.

One of these options should work as needed.

x2. Those threads are pretty course. My bet is someone tried to start the threads with an impact gun ;)

Negative on an impact wrench. Not sure how I managed to strip them to be honest. But I ended up just taping it with a m10 x 1.25 tap and it worked great. Only other question would be is if anyone has any tips on how to seal my passenger side window better. When I'm on the highway I can hear wind noise out of that window only. Any tips? Thanks for all the help on my other issue too guys. I appriciate it.

There are threads on here somewhere about window noise. A lot of guys had dealer fix at no charge. I think it has to do with the weather stripping material. My windshield did the same thing and the dealer fixed it for free.

Digging up old thread but I just got a m10 125 tap. Just need to get an oem bolt. Hope it goes in right. Tried to run the tap on a hole that is good but didn’t go in smooth.

Mine is. Just not aligned. Can run a cable through but not a bolt since it’s not straight

Run the tap from the bottom. Put some grease in the flutes of the tap and screw it in till it gets hard. Give it another 1/2 turn, then back it out a bit to clean the cuttings. From there, snug it back up, then in a full turn, out a 1/2 turn. Repeat until the tap is mostly flush underneath.

This of course assumes you didn't stuff the old bolt all the way through...
    Good luck!

You sure about that? Those seat bolts should go right through.

Yeah the holes on the bottom and bolt hole from top are not aligned. Only about 1/8 overlap.
