Thanks for the feedback! You mentioned a couple of things that we didn't have in our bbq (wind shield, general protection) . We will see what we can do about integrating these things into the next model!

I was thinking about a windsceen too , and if you hinged the protective cover for the grill , it could act as the windscreen

Definitely possible. We wanted to limit moving parts on it to make it as rugged as possible, but it's looking like non-use protection and wind shielding is more of a priority

love the idea, curious as to what you'e done incase the tailgate gets damaged in an accident. Are there live gas lines etc involved?

For wind protection/a shell, you might look into designed something like a Coleman 2 burner propane camping stove. Something that latches down and lifts up with hinged side panels.

I think that if you made the base product modular to accept different drop in modules , you would expand your potential customer base

For example you could have a drop in grille or sink or just a dry storage bin

The propane source is the only part of the system that isn't integrated inside of the tailgate. It threads into a fitting on the tailgate surface and therefore should always be disconnected when not in use

I love that model, very good suggestion. There has to be a way to make it more off road proof, no one likes tailgate rattle haha

Neat idea and I think folks have addressed most of the concern I would have including durability, loss of tailgate function, grease/overflow dripping, heat insulation, wind, etc.

I camp out of my truck a lot and I hated the corrugated tailgate for many reasons including aging knees and the fact that you have to worry about things tipping. I went to a local plastics supply place and found a piece of HDPE that they cut to fit my tailgate and I screwed that on top. It's easier on the knees climbing in and out, it's great having a flat surface for food prep, fishing, etc. and I can cut on it too. Total cost was less than $40 including some stainless screws and ss trim washers from Home Depot.

Lots of good feedback from y'all. I really want to iterate the last version of my tailgate with the general improvements you guys mentioned and see what you think. Could take me a couple months, but I'd love a second round of feedback!

The idea is really neat, but it needs to be either removable, or able to be covered completely. If you use your truck for anything over than hauling groceries then it would get nasty quick.

I personally would not be interested. A buddy of mine took a propane grill, mounted it to a piece of pipe and it mounts right to his trailer hitch. Cheap and effective.

I really like your guys idea. Especially if it had different drop in options. I could see that being a big hit at tailgate parking lot parties!! Thanks for the inspiration!
This is what i have right now when i go camping, but its kinda flimsy. IMG_4750_zps5742eb13_95211468e37d004870330690735b12d4e58f81c3.jpg
