Says you have a 5 lug and a 2.7, I think you already have a 4.10 r&p in the rear so I would keep it that way. Also I don't know of a mfg that makes 4.30s for the 8.4 rear end.

IIRC, the 5 lug has 3.31 gears, and a 7.5" rear diff size.

    i know the 6 lug 4cyl tacos have 4.10's

5 lug tacos no clue, i doubt they have 4.10's due to the smaller stock tire size

    4.56s.

Here's why: The automatic transmission has a .71 overdrive vs the manual tansmission's overdrive of .81. 4.56s with an auto will still turn less rpm on the highway than a manual truck with 4.10s. I honestly think this is why the auto feels more gutless.

Anyway, don't fear the gear. A tad too low is easy to learn to live with. A tad too high and you'll always be wanting more.

Agreed. Stock 4cyl 6lugs run 30.4" tires and 4.10 gears. With 32" rubber, 4.56's would be a good match, 4.88s would work well too, especially with the tall OD ratio.
