Let me start off by saying I am very happy with my Taco. There is one slight issue though, something that I didn't even think to look for (shame on me)...

Exterior temperature display. My truck does not have it. It's so common on newer vehicles, I was too busy picking out future accessories than looking for it. In Canada, it's damn near a required safety feature.

I have talked to the dealership and Toyota Canada, and spent some time on the google machine. Here's the story so far: Exterior temp was displayed in the rear view mirror prior to 2015 along with the back up camera. When Toyota added the newer in-dash display with Entune they removed it (WHY) from the rear view because they were including it on a "Weather App" that could be accessed from the in-dash display. Aside from this being less useful simply because it would display 'local' weather rather than real-physical-location-at-that-very-moment temperature, Entune and that app were not allowed into Canada due to licensing restrictions.

Bottom line is, screw you Canadian Taco owners. I get that they were coasting a bit since the '16 was in development, but it still seems silly to leave this out. Anyone have any ideas if the sensor/wiring is still in the truck or any way to get exterior temp without wiring in some cheap Canadian Tire special? Or any other workaround, really.

    Thanks, appreciate the help!

Does your truck have the compass/autodim/homelink in your mirror?

Yep, everything but exterior temp. It would be nice to retain all those features, the HomeLink & AutoDim are really handy!

OP, not unique to Canada's Tacos... all 2015s. You're not being persecuted.

Order up this mirror and have a shop wire it in for you. Gentex 50-GENK50A. Then you could probably sell your old one, thats the only way I see a OEM looking and functioning solution

Didn't mean to come off like I was. Interesting though, I guess I was misinformed. Do you have access to the Entune Weather app and does it work well?

Wow, that IS my rear-view mirror, minus the temp display. I have to assume Toyota sources from Gentex? I will look into that, thank you. If the sensor/wiring is still in place...it might be plug and play.

Aaahhh.... didn't know that. Still, Weather App doesn't work in South Dakota either.

I'm surprised power windows isn't an upgrade in a tacoma.

Struggle is real. No option to get TRD Pro or the Baja edition either it sucks balls we get shafted. Many states don't care about the exterior temp or the heated side Morris they never have to... But Ya its a year thing not just a Canada thing. It does irritate me we can't get all the other model versions however. :(

In Canada too? You would think they thought about it a long time ago, since many Canucks bitched about that, and their cold-weather testing is conducted in Timmins, ON, of all places.

I'm kind a glad that I have a 2012 with the homelink, temp, auto dim, compass mirror; and the steering wheel with voice control. When I install the new 2014/15 Touch with Nav, I'll have everything except enTune (who cares? I'm in Canada).

    Saweet!

There's your problem.. Timmins only gets Toronto/Vancouver cold! Not real, flannel wearing, beard growing, Celsius is the same as Fahrenheit cold.

    And windchill doesn't count.
