Does anyone leese truck do this? If I'm going up a good sized hill on a trail and get wheel spin in 2wheel and keep trying to go up my truck will compleatly shut the engine off. What could be the cause of this or is it normal??

My truck has never done this. I've been pleasantly surprised with how capable the rear wheel only mode is in mud and other things.

What it SOUNDS like to me.... and im speculating here. It sounds like normal engine regulation. Your title says the engine DIES, but from the body of your post you describe the engine regulation kicking in from traction control. If you have the chance to recreate the problem, do this. Come to a complete stop, push and HOLD the traction control button (car with curvey lines button) until your dash lights up TRAC OFF. This will make your rear diff completely open (one wheel peel), and will also disengage the engine regulation. Try to climb said hill in this mode and you SHOULD be able to hammer the skinny pedal up to the redline if desired (though not wise to do so). If you dont find any problems like this (other than a little less traction) then it seems your issue would be just engine output being cut by the ECU. But even when the engine IS being regulated, it shouldnt KILL the engine. The power would just be cut back to idle speed.

What happens is I can have the traction control off and it will go but if I keep pushing it the engine will cut off but I'll still have batt power. Now I do the same in 4/4 and no issues just 2 wheel and it's got me saying wtf this is strange

Just to be clear, when you say engine dies you mean the engine completely stops, turns off and you have to turn the ignition to restart it?

Yeah, what you're describing is the engine regulation. Its a component of VSC (Vehicle Stability Control). A big thanks to Rock Lobster above for mentioning it. I could not for the life of me remember what it was called when I posted before. LOL

To disable the engine regulation, do like I mentioned above.
    Complete stop...
Push and HOLD the TRAC/VSC button (for like 5 to 7 seconds) to disable VSC AND TRAC
Dash will light up VSC OFF / TRAC OFF

In this mode you will have a complely open differential, and will only have power to one wheel. Sometimes it helps, to get VSC out of your way to get the RPMs up. Othertimes..... well.... either get a tow strap or put er in 4H and drive on out. LOL

a simple tap of the traction control button will turn OFF engine regulation under 35mph, and turn on Auto LSD, which works surprisingly well.
