I got this idea from a friend, and fellow Tacoma owner, and decided to act on it.
I needed more reverse lighting as I back into my driveway. I switched my bulbs to LEDs, but they weren't any brighter than stock, so I bought a set of LED work lights from Amazon ($40, after tax).
I mounted them under the bumper. There are already holes, so no drilling was necessary.
I tapped directly into the reverse lights. Now before I get slammed for over taxing the circuit, let me explain. These lights are only 18 watts, as are the original, incandescent, reverse lights, so that's a wash. The only addition is the LED replacement bulbs and they are less than 1 amp. That being said, I attached the negative lead to the frame.

These are nice lights; aluminum housings & 6 CREE LEDs per light.

There are holes closer to the sides that I wanted to use, but then they wouldn't be level. I angled them to the sides.

As you can see, they're much brighter.

    cool idea.

Those things would be ripped off in about a week of me driving / fucking around. Already moved the 7 pin harness up to the bumper so it doesnt get ripped out.

Yeah. I'd lose those mounted there pretty quick. Those look just like the AVEC pods I just bought.

    Lots baby!
I did this a while ago. I used a cheap slim line fog light.

    It does help a lot.

    Looks good OP

another option is the Ridgid Dually flush mount kits that go right into the rear bumper

good job:thumbsup: I plan to mount some of these on some bed brackets that I made. I have 6 of these lights up front. Good little lights. Cheap too.

Does anyone have the Rigid flush mounted Dually's? I have had good experiences with Rigid when I was setting up my Raptor, interested in doing the same on my DCDB OR--30" SR in the front lower grill area and Dually's flush mounted in the back.

I was thinking about doing the same. I've seen some small LEDs that were single row oval shaped. I'm thinking the lower the profile the better.

Looks good OP. I used the holes out at the corners of the bumper. It basically shines the light where my tire is and about ten inches outside of the tire. Works great . Your style of LEDs will be what I put on when the halogens quit working.

Look like the ones I put in and in the same location. The snow banks have knocked them around a bit recently but the light is bright enough for my purposes. I wired them to a 3 way switch in the cab using a relay.

Thanks for all the comments ... good and bad.
I am somewhat stuck for mounting options; I had seen some mounted on toolboxes and bed-bars, but I have a tonneau cover that's not going away. I would be interested in the flush mounts that OZ mentioned ... a link, if you have one, please.
I'm not too worried about ripping them off as I don't really wheel too much, or aggressively, for that matter ... mainly trail riding or a cruise through the local pit.
I was also looking at some oval, single row, aluminum lights of the same wattage, but the reviews on their water resistance pushed me away.

I found some 16W LED lights off eBay for about $16 a piece. They are super bright but I wired my up tot the cab so I can switch them on as I please. I don't do anything crazy so I don't have to worry about ripping them off.

Just a idea for a different mounting spot. This is actually a cheapo underwater pond light. I'm thinking of getting some led floods to put in this spot.

These cast a decent amount of light also.
