Have a strange problem that came up today. Driving in 2wd not problem. Was snowy and locked in 4wd high, was driving about 30-35 or higher, on snowy roads, the steering suddenly gives a pull left or right, like a jerk to the side briefly. Does the same in 4wd low. Put in back in 2wd high, work great at all speeds.
Is this a front diff issue or 4wd front hub lock issue?

Seems like it might be one front wheel biting in and not the other and creates a steering wheel jerk????? Happens as a quick jerk and not a constant pull one way or the other, lasts a split second.

    Need help!

    Thanks all!

I've noticed this too. I think it is normal and like you said it probably happens when power is shifted to one of the front wheels and it suddenly gains traction. I subd to see what others say but I don't think anything is wrong.

yup, its simply the fact you now have the front tires pulling as well. this creates feedback through the steering system.

    Interesting.

My only comment is that this has never happen before and I've traveled many miles on snowy roads in 4wd High. Is it really torque steer?

    Thanks

have you changed tires / rims or added wheel spacers / lift etc? all of this can effect torque steer effect.

Also check for loose front end components.

No, the truck has been fine for the last 4 weeks, lot of storms!, and was using 4wd high often during commutes due to road conditions. This all started Saturday night coming home after some shopping. Hadn't seen a sign of this before that.
It happens around 30 MPH and above, either 4wd high or 20 MPH and above in 4wd low.
Is it possible that the front diff has a problem or only one wheel is locking?

Have had this truck 4 years now and not had this happen before.

    Thanks

probably just loosing traction in the rear wheels and the fronts take over pulling the truck forward.

OK, still is a strange thing to start happening after so much normal operation.

I've put about 200 miles on my truck in 4x4 in the snow and never once had this happen.

That's my thought also, I've got a few hundred miles without this happening before.
