What is/was this sound

Last week we got some ice and when I was almosted stopped I put on the brakes hard just to play around. DIdn't spin around or anything like that going in a straight line. When my wheels locked up it was like this motorized noise that came on and then when I let off the brake it quit. Was this like abs or something? Not really sure how to type the noise sound.

 

Did you feel a pulsing/shudder feeling while the brake was depressed? If so, I would guess ABS.

 

From what I remember I beleive so, in the brake pedal. And then it was like EEEEEEERrrrrrrr. Sorry thats the best I can describe

 

I would say ABS for sure then.

Its a weird feeling the first time it happens .

 

That sound is ABS working. you get the same sound if you spin out on ice with AutoLSD active

 

You also get the same sound when VSC tries to push you into the oncoming lane of traffic

Did it sound like a pulsing metal scraping on metal sound?

 

I believe he's talking about the motorized noise that comes from the dash.

Edit: sounds like a VCR when you put a tape in. Small electric motors doing their thing
