Need help! Rear reverse lights are on while driving, reverse light is illuminated as well as the drive light, and chech engine light came on. Is this an electrical issue or am I the unfortunate victim of tranny issues?...

    Thanks Jimmy!

You think the switch needs to be replaced? Ill throw a code reader on it later today... Just got a foot of snow here in CO so I'm going to have to just ride it our for the time being unfortunately. Atleast the R is no longer illuminated and my reverse lights arent on while in drive as of this morning. CEL is still on though...

probably some moisture or gunk down in the shifter. Clean it out and you should be good.

also check the connection down by the driver side door kick panel, moisture has been known to get in there and cause issues like this.

I'm pretty sure that the switch is a sealed unit. It could just be moisture in the electrical connector. Unplug it and dry it out with WD40 or ... then when you plug it back in seal it with some dielectric grease.

If that doesn't do the trick and it comes back it is probably shorting due to moisture from all the snow etc from inside the switch. In that case I would replace it and then attempt to open the old one up and repair it as a spare.
