Purchased my new to me 2011 Tacoma on 2.9.2015 and got busy, lol.

Here the list of mods that my desire to be unique and this forum helped to inspire:

1: XD Rockstar 17" wheels with Hercules Tera Trac AT II 265/65/17 tires

    2: ARE Color Matched Topper

3: Thule 387 roof rack system mounted to the topper (not pictured)

    4. And the best mod........ Alpine INE-W940 indash GPS & Bluetooth head unit

Future plans include adding a Baja Rack roof basket, build out a raised sleeping platform and preparing the bed for camping. Next desire is for a lift kit, still trying to figure out what direction and brand to go with that (3" or 6"), probably going to throw on a set on wheel spacers. Bumpers will be next. The lift and bumpers will be on the list for next year I'm sure

Pro Comp 7089's and Cooper STT's were slapped on within 20 minutes of pulling out of the dealership.

Bed cross bars (the prototype) with ski racks were put on 10 minutes after the tires.

tailgate theft is seriously that common? Worrying about my tailgate being stolen has never crossed my mind.

I guess it depends where you live. I could put a "free" sign on my tailgate and nobody would ever touch it, but some folks live in places where they'll steal anything.

I never have had a problem either , but since a hose clamp and a few washers are so cheap I did the mod anyway.

To tell you the truth I never heard about tailgates getting stolen until I came here. They will come off easy, so better safe than sorry I guess.

So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. Gave it to my son in Maine, he has an 05 2wd. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. Had Firestone Destinations and now Michelin LTX AT2 in stock size. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.
Seat covers if you call it a mod was the first thing i did.

It unfortunately is very common and has been discussed for a few years. This particular mod has been done by many Tacoma owners.

They are called exact fit. They look oem. No one realizes they are covers. A pita to install. You can't machine wash them since they have a foam backing other than that I'm pretty happy with them. They've been on for nearly 6 years and look like the stock seats.
