The GMC isn't a "bad" looking truck. That said... they had nowhere to go but up. Your Tacoma (even being 10 years into the design cycle) still looks better IMO. I'm still not sold on the new body style of the new Tacoma but like everything, it will grow on me. There are things I like about it and things that I don't (taillights come to mind).

That said, I've thrown so much money at my 13 that I plan on keeping it until I retire at 50 (6.5 years from now). Then and only then might I think about getting a new Tacoma. I will never buy a domestic vehicle and that is sad in a way. I have had a Toyota or Honda most of my life and they have been the most reliable vehicles I've ever owned. The one GMC that I owned was bought back under a lemon law. I've seen plenty of Canyons and Colorados sitting on the lot but only a few actually being driven so far.

I like the GMC, but prefer the Chevy Colorado Z71. I don't see the 15% price over the Tacoma, and I know GM will give more incentives in the future. I prefer my Tacoma, but give props to GM on stepping up the game. Most articles state that the GM twins are the reason Toyota stepped up the game with the Tacomas, so there is evidently more to the GM twins than we are giving them credit for, IMO.

Aren't Tacomas more of a domestic car then most things made by the "big 3"?

Some are made here but most are designed and "engineered" by their parent company. Much like BMW etc... Hell, my Tacoma was made in Mexico.

I get about 18-19 city in my 4x4 double cab Tacoma with larger AT tires on it. The GMC with its highway tires at 20 combined is not really a improvement at all.

I drove from sea level to about 6000ft on a 3 1/2 hour road trip and got 22mpg in my truck all freeway.

I really don't think the Tacoma's fuel economy is that bad at all, it's all the silly mods that people do that kill mpg's. I still see people putting 50+ pound tires on their tacoma's, then they wonder why Toyota can't make them a more efficient truck.

I'm a GMC fan; Sierra, not Canyon but I'm not a fan of the new lines (someone else mentioned this) on either truck.

Well, what you get in your real world driving compared to what the EPA test did on the GMC isn't really an apples to apples comparison.

Sticker says this GMC gets 17/24 and a similarly configured Tacoma would get 16/21 under the same EPA guidelines/testing. Not an earth shattering difference to be sure, but the GMC is "better" - especially in highway.

Assume gas averages $3/gallon and you only ever drive highway. That would be $1800 savings per 100,000 miles driven. That's not a whole lot in the grand scheme of things and is tilted a lot to favor the GMC by assuming all highway driving. Of course if you take the air dam off the GMC you'll save even less ;)

Can't tell if that Canyon is a 4x4, but if it is, approach & departure angles are dismal. Front has that air dam, and the bigger tailgate makes the rear bumper a lot lower to the ground...

True, that. You can't convince a GMC owner they're even related.
