So I was driving around a tight freeway on ramp from one fw to another, and was going around 45-50mph, I started to feel/hear a loud clunking noise and my traction control light was flashing... I put rancho quicklifts and 295/75/16s on a few weeks ago, but no problems since. I never messed with any abs or traction control settings. Scared the he'll out of me, and I haven't had the problem since. Looked at the suspension and it looks like everything is intact and OK. Any ideas what could have caused it?

I was turning left. Seems like I hear the same noise when turning left over a speedbump but I always just thought it was my tires rubbing.. Looked under the fender well and I didn't see any marks of tire rub so now I'm beginning to think this may be the culprit too. Any ideas?

You sure it wasn't the sound of the traction control doing it's thing? It makes a funky sound when it engages. Mine does this sometime when going around a entrance ramp kind of fast. The yawl sensor gets pushed enough to engage the traction control.

If the traction control light (vsc) was blinking, then it was the traction control kicking in. After lifting it and going into turns it will be more finicky. I've had my vsc almost pull me off the road while driving 'spirited' into turns.

why do people freak out when they 'hear noises' then make a new thread about it? its a machine, its going to make machine noises. there are some noises like VSC and Air pump that do not sound abnormal. they sound like any other ancillary system doing its job. yet we see ENDLESS threads on these things.

if its a 'bad' noise it usually sounds like something 'bad'....

Mine does it only on right hand turns, you get used to it after a while and once your tires wear down it becomes less frequent.

You can disable it. Hold the trac button for 5 seconds when you first start your truck before you go anywhere.

BTW I've had VSC keep me on the road in a sever maneuver. So don't underestimate it's importance. The problem is when it deploys in a situation when you are intentionally trying to induce a near skid condition.

it makes noises, and functions like any other system functions. with that comes sounds. they are normal.
    its not rocket science.

When traction control engages , it pulses the brake pedal like ABS and growls the same and if you are cornering when it happens it can indeed push you into understeer

Have you had that happen ?
