Any one had theirs done yet? If so, was it a 3-leaf or 4-leaf pack and did it add any lift?

Did you get another letter saying they are implementing the recall yet?
If you call your dealership, they'll probably tell you they're not ready yet and haven't started doing it.

Just emailed the local dealer here and he said yes there is a recall and asked if mine were broken.
    Never asked about a letter.
Will be checking them later today.

I received the initial mailing several months ago but haven't heard a word since. I'm curious what the fix will be.

Where can I look to see if my truck is eligible? I'm not the original owner, so I don't think I'd receive any notice(s) from Toyota.

    Thanks,

    John

I emailed if the spring recall was ready yet, they said no.

I received the frame inspection notice today as well. What the heck is up with the springs??? My frame is fine (I live in CA.) but my springs are a concern.

Dealer checked VIN. No recall for me.
Guess I will have to wait for the next recall.

Go to the toyota owners site and create an account. Imo all toyota owners should have an account, it keeps track of any dealer services and also automatically tells you about recalls .

Is it only available in the US? It won't let me register as from Canada...

Not sure about that? I will say this, I wish toyota would hurry the hell up. I've never heard or seen a recall that took this long. My 09 springs are definitely inverted now, a nice frown-type face even when completely unloaded. I'm in the process of moving and when I put a queen bed and a couple cabinets in I was riding the bump stops. It couldn't have been more than maybe 500lbs or so, IMO completely unacceptable for the given load rating. I plan on just letting a spring break before I do anything so I am not getting new springs before the recall goes into effect.

I was able to get myself an account. I'm not too sure where the recall info is, however. I don't have any outstanding notifications or anything that show up. I'll do some exploring.

That's the mobile site for it. No account needed, just your VIN.

Also, I'm not the original owner of mine but I got the letter. I didn't buy it used from a Toyota dealership either. My guess is when I went in for some maintenance I was entered in to their system. Same could be true for others.

To answer OP's question, I replaced my 85k three leaf pack with a new takeoff TSB four leaf. It added about a half inch of lift. I recently installed a Wheelers Prog 3-leaf add-a-leaf and with the overload leaf installed I got a total of 2" of lift. Hope this helps!

    frame and spring recall
Regarding the spring recall. My tacoma was just finished with both frame and spring recall last month at kenny kent toyota. My body shows no rust whatever but the dealer found a small hole, (10mm) under the front passenger side below the seat area. According to them, that was enough to have toyota have the recall done. The rep told me that spring recall was being performed first on vehicles that have a broken unit, and second on those that are already in for the frame recall to prevent them having to go back later and do r&r. My frame and fittings were ordered in Sept last year and it took that long to get the parts delivered. They did an outstanding job. I was looking on this forum to see if anyone had their springs replaced and what their opinion was. I don't mind, but my wife was the first to ask why my truck rode much harder than before. The new springs are four leaf and they are stiff as hell. I was looking to see if anyone had removed the bottom leaf after the fix to soften the ride. The other option is to drive around with 500 lbs of sandbags in the back. Overall however, I'm very happy with the fix. As i said, the parts are in short supply but will eventually catch up with demand.

    Stock for now...
Mine goes in tomorrow for frame inspection , spring issue (badly inverted , bashing the bump stops) , no-go response / bad fuel mileage / rough idle / highly erratic cruise control (engine ecu/pedal recall they tell me) , and a huge driveline clunk that showed up in the last week . 34,500 miles on an '08 , wtf ?

Speaking of wtf ? Is there a common leak spot in the ac system ? I've dyed the dumb thing twice , still cannot find any leaks including inside the cab and I'm tired of recharging this stupid ac system . All this keeps adding up and making it into a truck I refuse to drive - looking into importing a petrol 79 series crew cab from Dubai if it can be made to work out with customs . Working on figuring out if it can be insured (looking at a 2012) and legally titled here in Land of the Salt Bath ...

I love my old FJ40 , but it's body needs rebuilt and I need something that I can rely on and use for getting to work ...until the 40 gets finished anyway .

    Sarge
