This is what I was saying. Aside from testing it to make sure it works like it is supposed to, there is no break in.

Maybe I am looking into my oil sample a bit. My point is, if it were MY truck I would wait until the first oil change before putting a SC on it... but I'd be too tempted to "break in" the SC :D. 5000 miles seem like it's enough of a "break in". My truck, as noted, was still just shy of a perfect oil sample at 9625 miles, with only one oil change. I used Mobil 1 0W30 for my change.

You may find this informative. I live in SoCal where it almost never falls below freezing (where I live, anyway) so I use 0W30.

There seems to be a "break in" built into the SC ECU flash. The so called "learning" period. I can only assume this is done for times when a SC is installed on a new or near new engine.

And I also believe the rings are set during a dyno run by the factory either before the engine is installed or more than likely when it rolls off the final assembly and onto a dyno where they can 1. seat the rings and 2. look at the dyno and ECU readings to determine if the engine meets SAE certification and if there's any codes thrown.

Hopefully nobody thought I was being hostile. A little sarcastic, sure... not hostile.

Had mine installed @ 150k miles a little less than a year ago. The truck has over 168k miles on it now, and still runs strong.

Best time to do it would have been when negotiation the price of vehicle to include the supercharger cost into the negotiation as well

@ QueTaco - Please post some pictures after the work is all done!

I've toyed with the idea of an SC mod since I bought my first Tacoma back in June of 2000, but I'm admittedly ignorant to most of the benefits of having one, plus I was in college and broke. :)

If someone would enlighten me as to the benefits of adding an SC to my current Tacoma I would be grateful!

Okay - I wasn't that ignorant. I suppose I was looking for more specific benefits in regards to, yes, performance, but also regarding longevity of the engine itself, wear and tear over time, etc. Would a super charger benefit those who do more off road driving and towing, or would it be good for everyday commuters, such as myself, who may take camping and beach trips a couple times a year? Also - are there drawbacks to having this mod done? Gas mileage decreasing? Wear and tear over time? Etc.

    Thanks!!
