Anyone attempted to build their own TRD PRO?
I really like the look and was considering building my own.

Well it depends what your truck is to begin with.
If you have a sport, you already got the colornatched body pieces.
The grille insert is way to overpriced, I don't know why people pay so much for it.
Suspension, you can do better with aftermarket for what toyota will charge for the trd pro kit .
The trd fake bead locks are the only thing I can see buying if you like them enough.

Moral of the story, you can make a much better truck for what it will cost you to build a trd pro clone.
Better off getting a pro in the first place for rarity and resale values.

Interesting you mention resale value. I managed to track one down that I want but i was on the fence if I wanted to commit. The dealer actually said he didn't think it would hold its value as well so that kinda spooked me.

Just buy a 4x4 off road so you have the rear locker and A-Trac and upgrade the suspension. Then you have one bad to the bone Tacoma

The TRD pro is just an aesthetics package IMO. Build your own and spend less money. I saw a TRD Pro for sale locally and they wanted 42K for it!

Buy a TRD O/R for 32 then spend the extra 10k on LT :woot:

Why would a more expensive truck with more options specific to it and built in limit quantities not hold its value and a regular one will.

Look at any old limited edition car, it will always be more expensive and desirable than a regular one or one modded specifically to the previous owners needs.

Besides, you think the trd pro poser clone will be a higher resale value than an actual one? Should've just bought the one you found, dealers don't know shit

    Reality check:

The Pro will not be a collector item. Its rarity is inconsequential and as you said, any Taco can be made into a better truck for less. The resale value will be no more than any other Tacoma.

Its crazy to compare the Tacoma to an old limited edition car. These trucks will rust into dust before they ever become the collector items that 69 Camaros and Hemi Cuda's did. The hemi had 652 ever made and it had shit in it that could not be made better in the aftermarket, namely the motor. The TRD Pro is the same everything except a few bolt on items. That plus the truck market is tiny compared to the performance market making the potential buyer fewer and farther between. Nope, if you buy the Pro hoping for resale value you are going to have a rude awakening.

Go ahead and build it with the TRD Pro suspension if you can get the parts from the dealer.

You'll see a bunch of people bleat "You can build a TRD OR better with aftermarket suspension systems."

Except for one thing - look at the thousands of posts complaining how those aftermarket suspension systems caused VSC problems. VSC problems to the point that on winding roads they had wheel lockup that almost caused headon collisions.

Then you'll see all kinds of supposed fixes (mainly zero point recalibration) that only solve the problem for some trucks.

You're better off with the TRD Pro suspension. TRD has their suspension calibrated perfectly to the VSC on Toyota trucks.

LOL, I like how some dude said the reason not to do it is the VRSC works specifically with the Bilstein and they won't perform well on regular trucks. That is funny.
