I want to jump up to a 265/70 r17 Michelin M/S 2 for my next tire. I have a stock 265/65 r17 Terra grapplers on there now but I have no need for a AT. I lost about .5 Mpg when I went to the TG's so my question is what can I expect to lose MPG wise when I just up a size but to a highway tire? I have airbags in the rear and Toytec 1/2 spacers up front so the so stock size just looks too small.

I would think your MPG will stay similar, as you said upgrading to a highway tire will offset the MPG the AT tire lost.

I went from stock dungflops to Michelin MS2 in the same tire size you want..... but in a 10 ply tire, and I didn't see any drop in mileage. I get about 18-19mpg mixed driving, mostly hwy.

They are an amazing tire. Can't recommend them highly enough.

less rolling resistance and probably same or less weight. Id bet your mpgs go up.

MS2's are a bad ass tire. if i didnt want something more agressive like my current hankook dynapro atm rf10's id go ms2's

I think there is about a 2 pound difference between the TG's and the M/S 2's but I am hoping the lower rolling resistance will even out with the weight increase. I have no need for the LT so I plan to get a P rated, the most offroading I do is going down wet gravel roads 3-5 times a year. Thanks...

Your rim weight really means a very lot when come to mileage wise. Plus measure Michelin over all diameter compared to other tires. "Nascar Style". I fine my tires Michelin tries are around 1 to 3 inches bigger diameter than others brand's. Why I don't know... This will give you better ground clearance.
Just my 2 cent worth but so far I had much better service from Michelin's than any other tire, But they are a high priced tire too. & I live in pot hole heaven rough road Southern WV, But I get good service out of 10 ply Michelin tires, Them Michelin's 4 & 6 ply tires are junk.

I've got 265.70.16 MS2s on stock TRD offroad wheels. Had the truck since Decemeber and I usually get around 17-19. With a low of 16ish and high of 21. Just went through extensive tire research (settled on cooper discoverer's) and MS2s consistently got great reviews when it came to MPGs. Almost got another set, then decided on AT2s but they were backordered for months, so now waiting to put on discoverers i just got.

I might add that these tires have been on the truck since it rolled off the lot in 2006 with 67000mi currently and look absolutely fantastic in terms of tread life. The tires are date stamped from 2004 (long story as to why they came with truck from dealer) and they're starting to dry rot a little, otherwise I'd still be rolling on them for foreseeable future.

I went from P245/75-16 dunlops to Mich LTX MS/2, also P same size. Tires are same diameter, same revolutions per mile, but as mentioned are 3 pounds heavier AND while section width is the same, tread width is .4 inch wider.

Considering the dunlops had lost an inch in diameter (not quite to wear bars), had to recalibrate my ScanGauge slightly to make it's odometer correct with new tires. Maybe lost about .5 miles per gallon, but great tire, especially in the rain.

BTW, Mich LTX MS/2's in an E tire are 10 pounds heavier per tire than the stock dunlops. That will affect mpg.

I can only speak from personal experience. I didn't lose MPG's. More than tire weight goes into MPG's.

Also.... I just pulled this out of my 10 ply michelins. Think a P rated car wire would have survived it?
