Oh the actual hood latch system? I have checked that too before, nice and tight and adjusted at the most it's capable of going.

Just curious - the black piece that go on the hood seems to have a flat flange, but the hood is curved. Are these universal or truck specific?

They are universal but they will work on our trucks. Member Torspd has already installed these on his truck with a CF hood which has the same lines as a stock hood, as I previously posted in my original post. They will work on any vehicle as long as you don't put it anywhere that has ridges or funky body lines.

I don't believe they are running a BAMF behind the grille light bar setup either. That extra weight is probably what is causing the bulk of the issues. I don't want to remove it though that's the thing because I like that setup back there.

    Nice shots BTW

I think it should be advertised about that light bar setup that it shouldn't be used for offroading purposes due to possible warpage of the radiator core support.

my hood shakes at highway speeds. figured it was b/c of opening the skewp for heat dissipation when stopped.

No kidding. That's stupid. I don't know, I just feel that they market a truck that is capable of going offroading, so why use thin sheet metal as a support for the front if you know people are going to offroad it?

Wait let me get this right. You opened up the scoop for heat dissipation purposes and now it shakes?

i said i initially though the two could have been tied together, but it sounds like others are having the issue w/o having done that.

I'm interested to see how many more have the fluttering issue on their otherwise stock vehicles. I'm just a little concerned about cutting into the stock hood though.

Just got them in the mail. Damn they are assembled very sturdy. If I was to mount them I think I would probably do it long ways slightly angled like I pictured. Not sideways like it is on the pictures in my original post. What do you think?

Now on to the dreaded install. I'm afraid to do this part because its obviously a painted surface so you guys will have to give me a few days, but I'll post up pics as soon as its all done. No more flutter for me pretty soon. :)

I think if you cover the area in blue painters tape you'll be able do a pretty clean job. Good luck. It'll be killer.

I was noticing that is what a lot of people do indeed. I have multiple instruction guides though not hard its just intimidating because of the paint. Lol. I'll probably end up sealing these things using silicone black along the lines to prevent excess water from leaking in.

Hey as long as it let's me keep doing this and not having to worry about the stock latch system ripping off. I wouldn't exactly call it rice or non functional. Lol.

My bed is really less capable of moving around as much as the someone else's bed per se. The rear hydro bumps keep that in check.

Have you seen my hood gaps? They protrude past the fiberglass fenders (which typically correct the mismatching gaps) its more pronounced on the drivers side, you could actually see it in my picture, my stops are maxed out on the stock setup, I'm pretty sure I am not exactly fine at this point.

I wouldn't worry about hood pins unless you are running a carbon or fiberglass hood. 2nd gens have been around for 10 years now. When was the last time you heard someone's hood flying off on the highway? Your grille surround is more likely to fly off than your hood (look it up!).

The 2nd gen Taco is different from previous Toyota trucks in that Hino had input in its design. Like haul trucks, parts like the frame and hood are allowed to flex within design limits, to keep weight down.
