This makes me with I would've got the 82 I was looking at instead of my second gen. That wouldn't have been very logical but man are those trucks cool. Not to mention I would have had 4 wheel drive and a solid front axle. Sadly the 82 had lots of rust and it was lifted with mud tires so I'm sure it wasn't babied all its life. Best that I got my second gen but I missed a great opportunity on that 82.

Sorry no. Just like the rollbar, sunroof and tires. Also, it had aftermarket seats and spare tire carrier. All were period correct and very tasteful. (As long asyou're into that).

Love those old trucks. I have a soft spot for first gen 4Runners. This was my 89.

I saw that truck when I was shopping for my Tacoma! Though probably not a good sign that that truck was the best part of my trip to that particular dealership :roll eyes:

My favorite part is that it says "this truck is not for sale but the owner agrees that anything can be bough..."

A 35 year old truck that doesn't need an oil drip diaper on the floor. Nice. :)

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
On older planes, we say if it isn't leaking, it's out of fluid.

Super clean Tacoma and FJ Cruiser! I'll take the FJ as I've always wanted one. Don't think I'd fit in the regular cab.

This thread reminds me of how little style our newer trucks have.

Don't get me wrong, I love the 1st, 2nd, and even 3rd generation of the Tacoma, but their predecessors really show that they don't build 'em like they used to.

    Stock for now...
Just FYI - it's seriously offensive to call a Land Cruiser by the "FJ Cruiser" name - they are not the same thing in any way . The new version is based off the 4Runner/Taco platform and built much lighter than a true Land Cruiser . Cruiser owners call them by their platform number such as 40/45/47 , ect or just Cruiser . It's like comparing a tank to a balsa wood model , the Cruiser is more like a commercial vehicle than a passenger car ...

A local dealer here has a decent '79 FJ40 sitting in their show room in Freeborn Red , but it was done by a really rotten resto place that specializes in building crap and the owner thinks it's made of gold . My '77 is mostly original and basically untouched with it's own set of issues but it still runs fine after 38yrs of service and very little care - these things just wear out owners and keep going . The same will never be said for current trucks available ....just my opinion .

    Sarge
