hate when that happens, sorry to hear. :(
I had a good size chip repaired a year ago. This winter I snapped my windshield wiper to get the ice off & the chip cracked all the way across just like X-runners.
Its gonna stay that way for a few more months.
The chip repair warranty was only 90 days too. bummer.

dang that sounds alot worse than mine. Seems like from 05 X-runner, yours, and my experience.... the 2nd gen WS is kinda thin.

will warm weather make it worse?

4-5 inches they may be able to repair- They may tell you they have to replace it tho...It'll depend on the repair company and the insurance company rules.

It's worth checking with your insurance company- In FL front windshield repair & replace are fully covered by the insurance company (AKA...No deductable/No money from my pocket). I've put two claims in over the part 8 months on my wifes car..no questions asked-One replaced, one repaired.

The original windshield is better if you can keep it.

When I lived in CO, we had to have our windshields replaced every 12-24 months because of all of the rocks and gravel on the roads; combined with some extreme temperature changes, one small ding could quickly spread to a massive crack. Once it is over a certain size, glass companies won't want to fix it.

Fortunately though, the business was so competitive that they would often waive your deductable if you had insurance; without insurance, you could get it done for less than $200.

That is the worst, when you are trying to do good for your truck and keep it clean then something bad ends up happening. Let us know how it turns out!

I had mine replaced yesterday. I have free glass replacement with my insurance co. Safelite glass said the oem glass install was $1162. I requested oem because its better than aftermarket. The awful part is the installers told me it cost $22 to make the windshield. Nice markup aye?

That's one of the benefits of living in, SC (free auto glass coverage is mandated by the state)? I had a couple replaced in the past and the repair places paid ME.

Had to replace my windshield due to letting the wiper arm slip out of my hand when I was changing the wiper blades. Started out as just a chip, but then it started growing. Free in Florida with full coverage insurance. Just make sure you get a reputable company to do the replacement.

Glass companies will usually quote two different prices for the windshield replacement depending on if it's an insurance claim or not. They usually charge around double for insurance claims. You might want to call a couple different places and tell one it's an insurance claim and the other that you will be paying yourself to see the difference.

I call the dealership and have them order me a new windshield. I call my insurance company to tell them what I'm doing. Then I call a local glass shop to schedule them to install it at the dealership when it comes in. I then pay the installer $100.00.

I had a 4" crack "repaired" in my echo, didn't last 2 days.

my windshield is a disaster but its an average looking windshield up here. In the winter when you turn the defroster on you can just watch the show as all the unoticeable chips in the summer spread across the windshield, I plan on replacing it when theres a crack obstruction in my view, its mostly on the passenger side and low fortunately.
